Comrade Stalin, of course, remains above the fray. As players rise up the ladder, I'll keep bumping the top rank up the scale; once we have 21 players on the ladder, the top duck will bump Uncle Joe from his illustrious position--there's something to aim for!

Recent games:

David Garvin's US defeated Craig Stark's Germans in Silence that Gun (14)
Bill Stoppel defeated Paul Washington in The Badger's Breath (SP123)
Craig Stark's Soviets defeated David Garvin in Dead of Winter (T6)
John Stadick defeated Stephen Frum in Hart Attack (J167)
David Garvin defeated James Montgomery in The Tractor Works (B)

Soldaty, rabochiye, tovarishchi!

Here is the current incarnation of the new DC Conscripts ASL Ladder!

Ground Rules (provisional, to be altered at the discretion of the political officer):
  • Players can challenge one another (by email, in person, by field telephone, or using semaphore flags).
  • Challenges can include specifics (scenario, sides, balance, etc.) but are not required to do so.
  • Players are not required to accept challenges. Not accepting a challenge will not affect either player's standing.
  • Matches can be played face to face, VASL, or with any variation as agreed by the players.
  • Matches played at a convention can be counted as ladder matches if both players agree (and are Conscripts members, obviously).
  • One or both players can report the match outcome to the rota zampolit (ladder manager), who will publish the result and adjust the ladder accordingly.
Results based on outcome (adjusted slightly from the Global Ladder model based on the size of our club):

Higher ranked player wins match
  • Higher Player climbs one rung
  • Lower Player drops one rung
Lower ranked player wins match
  • Higher Player drops difference/3 (round up) rungs
  • Lower Player climbs difference/3 (round up) rungs
Drawn match
  • Higher Player drops one rung
  • Lower Player climbs one rung

A new player remains unranked until he completes his first match, at which point he enters at the bottom of the ladder then the match result is applied. If both players in a match are unranked players, the challenger enters the bottom of the ladder, followed by the challengee, then the result of the match is applied.

The old club ladder and the UK Crusader ladder were/are more complicated, with players getting assigned numerical scores and some complicated math determining how much wins/losses and draws are worth depending on relative pre-match points. Once we have some experience with the basic system under our belt, we might try something of that sort.

But for now, we have...

If you would like to be added, email me or add a comment here. If you have challenges to make or accept, you can post them as comments here, but it is probably wiser to post them to the  DC Conscripts list or email the other party directly. If you have completed challenges to report, please email me directly and cc: the other party so they can verify the result.

All hail the wisdom of the Party and long life to Comrade Stalin!
(Or not, as you prefer...)
